Meet the Supporter: Elmar Kleiner

Meet the Supporter - Elmar Kleiner

When I moved to Thailand in 2002, I was shocked about the poor understanding of sustainability in Southeast Asia.
Passionate about earth positive architecture, I decided to focus on sustainable design visions for the tropics, combining traditional construction principles with cutting edge technologies.
Since then my firm OIA realized numerous projects in the residential, hospitality, commercial and industrial sector, including DGNB & LEED certified milestones.

Based on his lifelong “green” vision, Elmar Kleiner has become one of the pioneering experts in sustainable master planning, architecture & interior throughout Southeast Asia and a regular participant at various international sustainability conferences.

Unique visions have garnered him numerous accolades and recognitions from the industry, and recently he has been selected as one of the first four consultants for DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) in Southeast Asia, as well as being the first architect to receive the exclusive DGNB gold award.

Elmar Kleiner holds a masterate degree of arts & architecture from SCI-arc (Southern California institute of architecture in Los Angeles, USA) and a German Dipl-Ing degree in architecture from the university of applied sciences (FH Konstanz).

In 1995 he founded his own architectural practice, OIA (office for interior & architecture), which under his “green” leadership quickly became one of the most sought after multi-disciplinary architectural firms in the region, most notably when it comes to unique integrated design solutions with sustainability and holistic undermine.
